Starting Neverness to Everness can feel overwhelming when you are weighing every pull and every resource. This guide focuses on a simple goal: pick a strong main carry, support them with reliable teammates, and avoid spreading your resources too thin. The good news is that several of the strongest characters are available to free-to-play players, so you can build a competitive team without spending.
Who to Invest in First
Your first priority should be a single main DPS, or carry, and the supports that keep them working. Among the top-tier (T0) characters, Lacrimosa, Zero, Chiz, Nanally, and Hotori are all strong long-term investments. Lacrimosa in particular shows up as a carry in multiple team setups, which makes them a flexible first pick.
If you prefer to lean on free options, several powerful characters can be obtained without pulling:
- Chiz (with the Contemplative Cat Arc, free via City Tycoon)
- Hathor (with the Raging Flames Arc, free)
- Haniel (with the Blow up the Crowd Arc, free)
- Skia (with the Watch Your Heads! Arc, free)
- Aurelia (with the Stellar Veil Arc, free via login event)
- Daffodil (with the Youthful Fantasy Arc, free via The Book of Post-Adolescence)
These free characters let you anchor a team early, then add T0.5 options like Daffodil, Baicang, Jiuyuan, and Fadia as you progress.
Building a Balanced Team
A good team needs a carry, supports, and someone to keep everyone alive. Resist the urge to build several half-finished characters. Instead, commit to one of these proven cores:
- Hathor reaction core (F2P): Hathor (carry), Zero, Jiuyuan, Mint — a strong fully free-to-play option.
- Lacrimosa Scorch DoT: Lacrimosa (carry), Baicang, Sagiri, Fadia.
- Adler shield core: Adler (carry), Mint, Zero, Haniel.
- Chaos Nova (top meta): Chaos (carry), Zero, Hathor, Haniel.
- Lacrimosa Discord (all-rounder): Lacrimosa (carry), Daffodil, Sagiri, Haniel.
Notice how often Zero, Haniel, and Mint appear across these teams. Because they fit into several compositions, investing in them early gives you the most flexibility no matter which carry you choose.
Spending Resources Wisely
The core habit of any new player is patience with premium currency. Save your pulls rather than spending them the moment you have enough, since rushing rarely lands the character you actually need.
A few simple rules will keep your account healthy:
- Invest in your main carry first. Pour your upgrade resources into one DPS before touching backups.
- Pick up the free characters and Arcs. Options like Chiz, Hathor, Haniel, Skia, Aurelia, and Daffodil cost nothing and form the backbone of strong teams.
- Match Arcs to characters. Each character has a recommended Arc — for example, Lacrimosa with Youthful Fantasy, Zero with Day Off, and Nanally with Song of the Whale. Prioritise the Arc for your chosen carry.
- Avoid spreading thin. A single fully built team will carry you far further than several underdeveloped ones.
Start with one carry, build the supports that share across many teams, and claim every free character and Arc you can. From there, you can expand at your own pace.
