Team Building Basics

A strong team in Neverness to Everness starts with a single carry and builds support around them. Rather than spreading resources across many characters, you pick one primary damage dealer, then add teammates who keep that carry alive and amplify what it already does. This primer walks through how to read a comp, who to invest in first, and how the listed meta teams put those ideas into practice.

Build Around One Carry

Every team here is named after its carry: Hathor, Lacrimosa, Adler, or Chaos. The carry is the character your other three slots exist to support, so it should receive your premium currency and upgrade materials first. Funnelling resources into a single main DPS gives you a reliable core that clears content, instead of several half-built units that each fall short.

Once you have settled on a carry, the rest of the team fills predictable roles: enablers that set up the carry's damage, and a sustain or utility unit that keeps the comp stable. The goal is a balanced four-character lineup, not four damage dealers.

Read the Meta Teams

The listed comps show the pattern clearly:

  • Hathor reaction core (F2P): Hathor (carry), Zero, Jiuyuan, Mint. A fully free-to-play option built around Hathor.
  • Chaos Nova (top meta): Chaos (carry), Zero, Hathor, Haniel. The strongest listed lineup, using Hathor here as a supporting piece rather than the carry.
  • Lacrimosa Scorch DoT: Lacrimosa (carry), Baicang, Sagiri, Fadia.
  • Lacrimosa Discord (all-rounder): Lacrimosa (carry), Daffodil, Sagiri, Haniel. A flexible alternative for the same carry.
  • Adler shield core: Adler (carry), Mint, Zero, Haniel.

Notice how a handful of supports recur. Zero appears in three teams, and Haniel in three; these dependable supports slot into multiple carries, so building them early gives you flexibility across comps. Lacrimosa has two distinct teams, meaning you can adapt her supports to what you own.

Prioritise Free and Beginner-Friendly Picks

Several characters and their Arcs are obtainable without spending, which makes them safe early investments. The Hathor reaction core is flagged as a full free-to-play team, so it is a practical first goal if you are starting out. Free Arc picks include Hathor's Raging Flames, Haniel's Blow up the Crowd, Skia's Watch Your Heads!, Aurelia's Stellar Veil (via login event), Chiz's Contemplative Cat (via City Tycoon), and Daffodil's Youthful Fantasy (via The Book of Post-Adolescence).

Pairing a carry with its intended Arc matters: Lacrimosa with Youthful Fantasy, Adler with The Fool's Spring, and Chaos with A Time Will Come. Securing the carry's Arc and its recurring supports first, while saving premium currency for the units you most want, lets you grow toward the higher-tier comps without overextending. The T0 carries (Lacrimosa, Zero, Chiz, Nanally, Hotori) and T0.5 options (Daffodil, Baicang, Jiuyuan, Fadia) give you a clear sense of which investments hold up over time.
