Adler shield core
Adler's shields give the team survivability while Mint, Zero and Haniel cover Hexed and Blossom reactions — a sturdy F2P backbone.
Adler is a 4★ Incantation character from the Bose arc who fills a Survival role, currently holding a T1 tier placement in the meta. As a top-tier option, Adler offers strong value for teams seeking a reliable Survival pick at the 4★ rarity.
A DEF-scaling shield support: Umbrella stacks with his shield-first kit, while the F2P The Fool's Spring boosts DEF% (and thus his shields and multipliers). Stack DEF%; Kingdom's Guard run as a 4-piece is the recommended cartridge.
Recommended setups from community build guides (~June 2026); not the only viable option.
Adler operates as a defensive anchor whose value compounds over a fight rather than spiking early. His priority is establishing shields the moment combat opens, layering protection that scales off his DEF, then applying steady damage-over-time pressure once the team is secured. Tempo-wise he sits in the back rank, refreshing barriers on a measured rhythm and topping up Karma stacks through Tranquility before contributing chip damage. He fits naturally into compositions built around a single carry that needs uninterrupted uptime, pairing well with fragile high-output dealers who depend on staying alive. Because his shields and multipliers both grow with DEF%, he asks little of the rest of the roster and slots cleanly into most Incantation or hybrid lineups as the survival cornerstone that keeps the engine running.
Lead with his Skill to lock down shield generation and DoT application, since that is where his core protective value lives. Promote the Ultimate next for its bigger defensive payoff and Karma economy. Basic attacks follow as a lower priority, and the QTE comes last given its limited contribution to his survival-first kit.
Build entirely around defense. Run DEF% in Slot 1 and flat DEF in Slot 2 to feed both his barriers and his damage multipliers. For substats, chase DEF% first, then flat DEF, followed by Break Intensity and finally Cycle Intensity. Everything funnels into raising his DEF so shields and scaling climb together.
Equip the Kingdom's Guard set as a full four-piece, using the Type 3 configuration to maximise his defensive identity. Allocate every available main and substat line toward DEF%, supplemented by flat DEF, so his shields, cleanse, and DoT all benefit from the same investment. Avoid splitting stats across offensive lines that his kit cannot leverage.
Prioritise A1 and A6, the two most impactful nodes. A1 (Form) is especially valuable because casting Tranquility grants 20 stacks of Karma, sharpening his uptime and protective loop. Push toward A6 next for the additional defensive payoff before filling intermediate awakenings.
Invest steadily to raise his DEF ceiling first, since survival scales directly with it. Level the Skill and Ultimate alongside ascension breakpoints, and equip his best Bose arc early to anchor shield strength before refining substats.
